Dr. Steven Vasilescu is an early career researcher in the field of biomedical engineering, specializing in sperm selection and identification technologies for severe male infertility. He earned his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where his work focused on microfluidic methods for sperm selection.

Dr. Vasilescu has made significant contributions to the development of AI applications in surgical sperm retrieval and extended sperm searches. His research aims to improve the outcomes of fertility treatments by ensuring the selection of the most viable sperm. He collaborates closely with clinical partners, embryologists, and fertility specialists to align technological advancements with clinical needs.

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Vasilescu is the CEO and Co-Founder of NeoGenix Biosciences, where he continues to drive innovation in reproductive technologies. His efforts have led to the development of SpermSearch, an AI system designed to identify rare sperm during testicular surgeries, which is currently undergoing patient trials. He has also developed a microfluidic technology for sperm selection for IVF and ICSI which he is commercialising through NeoGenix.
